FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Whip artist to speak at Ohio Theatre Alliance"America's Got Talent" performer to enlighten up-and-coming actors.January 17, 2007 Whip artist Gery L. Deer will be presenting a professional development workshop on whip artistry in stage and film at the 2007 North Central Regional Auditions and Technical Interviews. The event will be held on Saturday January 27 at 10AM at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. Auditions and interviews are open to anyone and offer actors, performers, or technical personnel the opportunity to interview with many different companies in a single, convenient location. Theater and production companies from all over the tri-state region, including Xenias First Frontier, Inc., which produces Blue Jacket, and Paramounts Kings Island, participate in the event each year. The participating companies will be conducting interviews and auditions for the 2007 season. Deer, who is a professional entertainer, motivational speaker, and whip artist, is a regular presenter for the Ohio Theater Alliance and also works with independent film productions and conventions such as The Indie Gathering which is held each August in Cleveland, Ohio. He has performed on a number of national television programs including NBCs Americas Got Talent and is the managing director of GLD Enterprises & Productions. Deer is a certified whip artistry instructor by the Society of American Whip Artistry and registered with the World Stunt Association. GLD Enterprises & Productions is a variety entertainment group that has provided entertainment and talent placement services since 2001. Their newest production, which will be an integral part of the Ohio Theater Alliance presentation, is an interactive ensemble variety show called Whips & Wands featuring two-time International Brotherhood of Magicians Magician of the Year, James Professor Karns. The show combines acting, comedy, music, and an artistic display of magic and whip handling.
